Do you need a consultant?

Not everybody needs an immigration consultant or a lawyer to navigate through an immigration/study or work procedure to Canada. No such obligation exists, and the price can be very high. If you have time, a background in Law or administration in your own country, and if you understand French or English, you could possibly do the whole process yourself.

However, your immigration/study/work procedure to Canada may be easier, faster and more successful with the advice of a specialist. Indeed, there are dozens of different procedures to immigrate/work/study to Canada, which can be prove overwhelming for those unfamiliar with administrative processes. Furthermore, a mistake or simple error in your application can mean loosing several months in the process or even its overall rejection.

If you decide to seek the help of a consultant or lawyer to help you in your immigration/study/work process, you need to pay attention to the following:

  1. Is the consultant a real consultant? Is he/she ICCRC registered? Non registered ghost consultants have been haunting the business for too long, causing loss of money, loss of time and giving false hopes to people all over the world. Your first step is thus to verify that the consultant is registered. You can do that by typing his/her name in the ICCRC registery. ICCRC is the national regulatory authority designated by the government of Canada to safeguard consumers who seek and retain the services of Canadian immigration consultants. Federal law requires that immigration consultants, in Canada or abroad, who provide Canadian immigration services for a fee, must be registered with the ICCRC and accredited as a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant (RCIC). The I-Bureau is ICCRC registered. Our founder, Benoit ANDRE is accredited with ICCRC.
  2. Is the consultant competent?  At the I-Bureau, we work with certified consultants who have demonstrated a thorough understanding of the Canadian immigration procedures and who have legal expertise. Our team consists of experienced, competent and efficient individuals. The I-Bureau also offers service guarantees to its clients.
  3. What are the fees?  Immigration consultants have frequently charged unreasonably high fees for their work, taking advantage of the particularly difficult situation in which prospective immigrants are due to their remote location or anxiousness to be qualified. Our prices at the I-Bureau are competitive and reasonable. For those on a budget, we offer a best value option, minimizing our fees to a maximum, called the SOS option.
